Asta Invests in London & Dubai Reinsurance MGA, Arma Underwriting
Asta, the London-based Lloyd’s third party managing agent and specialist MGA investor, announced it has agreed to invest in the development of Arma Underwriting Ltd. Asta will take a minority equity stake in Arma and will also support the company’s infrastructure including finance and IT.

Swiss Re binds less renewals as prices decline, business model adjusts
Reinsurance firm Swiss Re underwrote 18% less renewal business at the 1st January 2017, renewing $8.5 billion of a possible $10.3 billion, as it continues to navigate softening reinsurance markets and looks to protect its profitability.

8,000 Louisianans Possibly Impacted by Reinsurance Broker’s Data Breach
The Louisiana Department of Insurance reported that a reinsurance broker contracted by the Louisiana Health Cooperative (LAHC) has experienced a data breach.
As a result, former LAHC policyholder Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and in some cases Protected Health Information (PHI) such as names, social security numbers and health insurance information may have been exposed to or viewed by unauthorized individuals. The LDI estimates around 8,000 former LAHC members could have been impacted.
